Child Care Options
The Puyallup School District welcomes all families to enroll students in their local school. As a public school system, the district provides instruction and support for students in kindergarten through grade 12 during regular school hours.

However, because many families require childcare options before and after the school day the district has contracted with a childcare provider called Right At School to offer these services. The contract provides Right At School with the rights to rent district facilities and offer their services as a resource to parents.

Providing more options for families has been an interest of the directors of the school board and an idea coming from leadership in the district’s PTA Council. When researching vendors the committee was most interested in a program which is:

   - Designed for students in preschool through grade six
   - Aligned to academic standards that offer a continuum of services
   - Housed in all elementary schools
   - Flexible in payment options for families
   - Able to provide childcare from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm.

The nationally recognized after-school enrichment provider, Right At School will begin providing services during the 2017-18ras logo school year. Informational community meetings will take place on Thursday, March 16 at the Pioneer Park Pavilion. Two identical meetings have been scheduled for 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Although the current before and after school childcare vendor, the YMCA, is unable to meet the established criteria, they will continue to provide services through the end of the current school year. The district has appreciated the partnership over the past several years.

Parents currently using the YMCA childcare services may need assistance during the transition. For this reason, this new webpage has been created and will be updated with new information periodically.

In addition to meeting the criteria listed above, Right At School will provide:

   - Options range from one day a week to five days including morning or afternoon or both
   - 10% discount for military families
   - 10% discount for siblings
   - 20% discount for families who qualify for free or reduced lunches.

Along with the scheduling flexibility and financial discounts, Right At School has its own Director of Curriculum who will work directly with the school district’s leadership to ensure an optimal academic experience. The curriculum will feature hands-on learning, multi-sensory activities, child-driven projects, daily fitness, team building, and leadership development.

The Puyallup School District is looking forward to working with parents, students, and Right At School personnel to provide a safe, fun, and challenging academic before and after school option for families.
